Former President John Mahama Writes To The Military
"To the men and women of the Ghana Armed Forces who have been deployed for this exercise, remember that your fidelity is to the state of Ghana and not a political party. The people you encounter are the very people under whose authority you wear your respected uniforms.
The politicians who send you to intimidate fellow citizens will not be there always but your commitment to the sanctity of the state of Ghana is eternal. I urge you therefore not to become the tool by which the rights of innocent Ghanaians are abused. Bear in mind that there
is always a day of accountability and that any abuse you subject your fellow citizens to, will be subject to scrutiny in the near future"
'Well done', CDS Akwa, IGP Boanuh & Brig Gen Kotia
We at the 'Daily Post' are unashamed staunch and fanatical admirers of professional institutions such as the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Ghana Police Service (GPS), Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), Ghana Fire Service (GFS), Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), and other statutory state institutions, who together, provide the necessary framework for policy formulation and implementation to ensure the security of all who live in its jurisdiction.
Each Force or Service has its charter, primary and secondary roles and responsibilities, none of which is sacrosanct. Indeed, the roles and responsibilities of each and every security agency is enshrined in the 1992 Constitution.
In the last three and half years, some Ghanaians have been deeply worried about certain developments within the state security institutions mentioned above. Areas of most concern include recruitment, training, promotions, appointments and postings.
There are grounded beliefs and anecdotal evidence that there is obvious lack of due diligence, openness, transparency, fairness and immeasurable political intrigues in several otherwise routine activities within the Services. Thus, an agenda has been set to deny equal access and opportunities for certain groups of individuals, most of whom are better qualified and competent than those who are being enlisted, promoted or appointed. A real doomsday scenario.
In the current situation, one may look at ongoing military operations. Apparently, Ghana's security capos, under the guise of securing the eastern border, had been planning to unleash "home-planned terrorism" on Ghanaians living along that part of the country. So since 20th June 2020, several hundreds of soldiers, police, immigration and other officials, carefully selected from one particular ETHNIC/TRIBES/GROUP, have been deployed in an unprecedented SHOW OF FORCE to INTIMIDATE, HARRASS poor citizens.
The MILITARY HIGH COMMAND has code named the operation EX EAGLE CLAWS 2020.
Welldone, CDS and IGP!!!
Recently, l read an admonition by one elite security analyst to all persons in the security services that the incoming government would not be vindictive in matters of recruitment, training, promotions and appointments. Most technocrats and professionals agree profoundly.
In the midst of this current "turmoil", orchestrated by the government, a few guidelines may be useful to those in authority and have a fiduciary responsibility towards every Ghanaian living everywhere.
The current government will not be in power forever;
Every officer has limited number of years in Service and or in appointment;
What is ongoing is politically-driven; do the current group of senior officers of the various security services expect any reasonable person to believe that they are apolitical and therefore need to be retained in office, when the next government comes into power?
Will officers, especially those in strategic and operational command positions, be able to justify their directives at this time of our nation's history?
Will they be able to convince Ghanaians that, what they are doing under the guise of state (in)security during this period of national uncertainty?
Are they aware that they shall be personally held responsible for any actions and inactions of their subordinates?
To all my fellow countrymen who are under SEIGE, I urge everyone NOT to feel INTIMIDATED and HARRASSED by the HOAXES of EX EAGLE CLAWS 2020. These are actions of a dying OLDMAN.
Ghanaians, especially those living in the areas invaded by the security services, will live and uphold the tenets of our Constitution and Anthem
God bless bless our homeland Ghana!!!
